[VERIFIED] KNOCKDOWN: 47 firefighters quickly located and extinguished fire in one unit on the 2nd floor of a (mixed) three-story apartment building (updated from two-story). While conducting a primary search during their fire attack, firefighters located a victim in the involved unit. Unfortunately, the individual was beyond medical help and determined dead on scene. LAFD Arson is responding for the cause investigation per protocol for a fatality fire. Victim identification and cause of death will be determined by the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner. LAFD PIO Captain Adam VanGerpen is responding to the scene for media availability.
